TriTiCon Knowledgeworld
New Course Launched

Introduction to (e)COA and (e)PRO is now live in TriTiCon Knowledgeworld. A rapidly growing area of clinical data collection — assessments made by the patient, the clinician, or a caregiver, and the electronic tools that capture them.

The module gives you the vocabulary, the design factors and a practical foundation for planning and running patient-reported outcome data collection in your own trials. Three chapters cover:

  • C06a — Definitions and key concepts. The (e)COA umbrella and its subsets — (e)PRO, ClinRO and ObsRO — validated instruments, live vs source data, parking-lot syndrome and recall bias, compliance.
  • C06b — Scenarios and key considerations. Supervised vs unsupervised collection, scheduled vs event-driven, paper vs electronic — and how to answer those questions well.
  • C06c — Operational basics. What is different about running an ePRO trial — start-up, conduct and close-out — versus a traditional eCRF set-up.

The focus throughout is ePRO, because it is the most common case and usually the most complex. We teach principles you can apply across vendors, therapeutic areas and trial types — not a one-size-fits-all recipe.

Selecting an enterprise system? Functionality is only one of eight dimensions that matter.

Too many enterprise system selections in clinical development are run on a feature list and a sales demo. But choosing an EDC, a safety system, an IRT or an eTMF commits you to a platform, a provider and a way of working for years — and it is hard to reverse.

A real solution is far more than what the system can do. It is the services around it, the quality and regulatory credibility of the vendor, the architecture, the company match, the roadmap, the cost and conditions, and the vendor's long-term viability. We call these dimensions — and the goal is the right profile across all of them, not the highest score on any one.

We have just added a new free resource to our homepage: a four-page Framework at a Glance summarising the TriTiCon Way of selecting enterprise clinical systems — a staged, profile-based filtering process across eight dimensions that keeps vendor evaluation as rigorous as system evaluation.

Also on the Resources Page

Three more free resources are available on the same page — short, practical references you can keep on hand:

  • Oversight — TriTiCon Methodology at a Glance. A single-page summary of the TriTiCon approach to sponsor oversight in clinical development — spanning data management, statistical programming, biostatistics, safety, trial management and site management.
  • Validated Instruments for patient-reported outcomes in clinical trials. A practical guide to the role and use of validated PRO instruments — when to use them, how they work, what to do when no validated instrument fits, and the rule of thumb that governs their use.
  • 12 ePRO terms you need to understand — a free TriTiCon Field Guide. A handy field guide to the dozen essential ePRO terms every clinical development professional should know — clear definitions, in plain language, ready to share with a team.

How do you actually choose the right enterprise system in clinical development?

Selecting an EDC, a safety system, an IRT or an eTMF is one of the highest-leverage decisions a clinical development organisation makes. It commits you to a platform, a provider and a way of working for years — and is hard to reverse once trials are running on it. Yet selections are still too often run on a feature list and a sales demo.

Our latest piece on the Leadership & Thoughts blog argues that functionality is only one of eight dimensions that decide whether the choice was the right one. It covers what those eight dimensions are, why three of them sit on the vendor side of the line (the vendor matters as much as the system), the rule that does not bend (dimensions stay separate — never collapsed into one weighted score), and the five stages that take you from strategy to a contracted solution.

It is short, opinionated, and intended to sharpen how you run your next selection.
